FUNERAL HOMILY 2

Maayong buntag sa tanan!

Life is a journey from birth to death.  Sa OT ang journey sa kinabuhi nagsugod sa Egypt-promised land.  Sa NT gikan sa pagpakatawo, pagpakasakit, pagkamatay ug pagkabanhaw ni Kristo.  Death is part of our journey whether we like it or not.  We are only pilgrims in this world, on a journey to God.

Gabii sa akong pamalandung gi search naku unsay meaning sa pangalang Wilfredo o Wilfred sa English.  Accordingly “Wilfred” comes from the English word which means “peaceful.”

Sa kagubot sa kalibutan, bagyo, massacre sa Maguindanao, sunog sa Valencia, paboto sa pasko, nag kabisi mo ug pahapsay sa inyong minatay.  Unta dili nato kalimtan unsay mensahe ni Wilfredo na mao ang kalinaw o unity.  Unta sa iyang kamatayon musamot ug ka united ang matag miyembro sa pamilya kung naa may panagbingkil o panagaway sa panimalay unta kini matambalan na ug masulbad.

Kitang tanan bumabyahe sa kinabuhi...kung gusto ta muadto sa cdo, manila, las vegas etc. Nangandoy ta pirmi nga unta ang atong byahe malinawun o peaceful.  Sama unta ing-ani ang atong pangandoy sa atong pagbiyahe sa atong kinabuhi.  Our final destination is to be with God.  Therefore, death is not an end because we catholics believe in resurrection.

There was a rich woman who spent her life and money for herself, and a poor laundry woman who was pious and generous.  Both died and went to heaven.  St.Peter ushered the laundry woman to a big beautiful mansion.  The rich woman thinking that she’ll be getting a bigger and more beautiful mansion got surprised when St. Peter brought her to a small, crampy nook with all the junk around.  “i think this is unfair”, she protested, “i am a rich woman.  I deserve a bigger house.”  St. Peter calmly responded: “ i’m sorry ma’am, but here in heaven, we’ve got no material for construction.  The house we build depend on the materials you send ahead to us.”

Samtang buhi pata sa kalibutan tarungun unta nato pag gamit ang atong kinabuhi.  Kung gusto ka peaceful ug malipayon ang imong panaw sa langit pagbinuotan diri sa kalibutan.
